The historic colonial centre has genuine charm and a uniquely Colombian character. As well as a cultural centre with many fantastic museums and galleries, it also boasts the country’s best nightlife and restaurants.
To the east, the city is bordered by a mountain range topped by the peaks of Guadalupe and Monserrate, reached by cable car. Some of the highlights of the city include the attractive historical ‘Candelaria’ district, the dazzling Gold Museum, and attractions further afield such as the underground cathedral made of salt just outside the city at Zipaquira.
