Rincon del Socorro

Esteros del Ibera Wetlands | South America

  • Managed by the Conservation Land Trust by staying at this lodge you are actively contributing to one of Argentina’s most important conservation projects. Due to their decades of work, in 2018 the surrounding area was finally declared a national park and granted full protection status at the highest level.
  • Reintroduction projects involving giant anteaters, collared peccary and pampas deer mean that this is the only location in Argentina you can see these species.
  • One of South America’s top birdwatching locations. Over 350 species can be seen in the surrounding reserve.
  • Very few visitors to this region guarantee a true wilderness experience, one of the reasons Douglas Tompkins first fell in love with the area.
  • The best way to access the lodge is by light aircraft as the nearest large airports are at least four to five hours drive away. These flights are weather dependent though, so it is worth having a back-up plan.
