Close to the continent’s southern-most tip, Chile’s Torres del Paine national park is home to some of South America’s most breath-taking mountain scenery. The soaring triumvirate of the “Torres” dominates the landscape, standing more than 2,000 metres high over beautiful lakes and golden pampas.
You’ll also find a wide range of Patagonian wildlife, ranging from condors, flamingos and rheas to docile huemuls, an Andean deer that is one of Chile’s national animals. You might even catch sight of a puma if you’re lucky! Despite its southerly location, due to the proximity of the sea the park has a remarkably temperate microclimate, ensuring mild temperatures year-round which only rarely drop below 10 degrees during the day time.
