While, like all places, there are pockets of conservatism, South America also has some of the most advanced LGBT rights in the world. Argentina became the first country to legalize same sex marriage in 2010 and has some of the most progressive transgender rights in the world. Several countries have followed Argentina’s lead including Uruguay, Colombia and Brazil, and Latin America was recognized as a major global leader of LGBT rights by Human Rights Watch. Overall, this is a region that celebrates diversity. But not all destinations and people are as forward-thinking as others. We do not tolerate any form of discrimination and we only partner with properties, guides and excursions that are LGBT-friendly.
