Vila Santa Teresa is one of Brazil’s most exclusive properties, a seven-bedroom villa set on the private estate of the renowned Monteiro de Carvalho family.

No expense has been spared on the refurbishment of the villa (one of four properties on the estate), and the style is tasteful and sedate, whilst still maintaining the tropical chic feel of the original 1970s décor. The suites have a light and airy feel, wherever possible taking advantage of the stunning views over the city or the calming influence of the surrounding tropical gardens.

With only seven suites the service is flawless, yet personal, and despite the relaxed home from home feel the restaurant serves some of the best cuisine in Rio with a daily changing menu making the most of organic ingredients from their own garden.

The large swimming pool is a highlight of the property, enjoying picture postcard views over the center of Rio to Sugar Loaf mountain and the Guanabara bay beyond. It is well worth programming at least an extra day into your stay in Rio to be able to relax around the pool and gardens, sipping on caipirinhas, and languishing in the glamour of the Carioca high life.
